Moving Mountains: The Mustard Seed Project
Slate Valley Museum, Granville, NY
Serena Kovalosky is creating sculptural work from a foraged mustard “tree” and mustard seeds from around the world as the 2024 artist-in-residence at the Slate Valley Museum in Granville, NY. Her live, interactive open studio at the museum is open to the public throughout her creative process from May through November 2024. Visitors can participate in the creation of an installation of “Seed Journeys” in conjunction with the project. This project is part of Kovalosky’s multi-year Eco-Garden Project.

Serena Kovalosky explores the white mulberry tree and its link to the local silk industry in this interdisciplinary project that is part of the Eco-Garden Project. Awarded a New York State Rural & Traditional Arts Fellowship.

This site-specific installation was created from natural materials and installed on the museum grounds. Co-created by Serena Kovalosky and Chung-Ah Park. Commissioned by the Georgi Museum.

Labyrinth: The Seed that Grows
American Can Building, Montreal, QC, Canada
The first labyrinth for the Seed That Grows project originated in Montreal. Participants took corn, beans or squash seeds at the entrance and deposited them at the center of the labyrinth. Seeds were later planted in a Three Sisters Garden at Soul Space in Greenwich, NY.
