“Earthpod VII – Singing Bowl” is created from a specialty gourd selected for its thick shell and oval shape to serve as a Singing Bowl, referencing the gourd’s long history as a musical instrument. Singing, humming or vocal toning into the opening creates meditative soundscapes, particularly interesting for working with harmonic overtones.
The exterior pyrography in this piece suggests a topical reference to ancient maps, presenting a macro view of Earth minus the boundaries of “countries.”
